Good morning my dear colleagues. I hope you are all well and safe. I prepared a small report of what has been done here, in my University, with some feedback. I... published it as a document in this group, because I believe that at this moment some personal experiences can contribute to adjustments regarding the face shield´s production. All the best, Luisa.

Today I am so very proud of my E-Nable family who are putting their 3D printers to work 24/7 trying to supply their local healthcare heroes with some face shiel...ds. If you want a feel good story for the day, please visit our blog to see our volunteers in the USA, Thailand, Australia, Colombia, Greece, Ireland, New Caledonia, Brasil and Turkey who shared their stories and images. Special thanks to Luke K Johnston who helped me write this post. I am so excited to have you on my "News Hound Team!" This is but a fraction of the volunteers and chapters that are working on this and providing FREE medical supplies to the brave souls on the front lines trying to save lives. I am so so SO blessed to be able to call all of these people my friends and my e-NABLE Family. They are real-life superheroes - helping superheroes. http://enablingthefuture.org/…/global-e-nable-chapters-del…/ Follow the blog for more stories coming soon. Love you all. <3 #enablethefuture

It's been brought to my attention in a One Health group that I'm a member of that there is a need for 3D printed valves that can be used to convert snorkel equi...pment into respiratiors for hospital use. I'm attaching a video (it's in Italian, I don't know if there is an English translation available). Of course E-nable immediately came to mind! The doctor working on this project is Tomas Vybiral MD, 336-957-6112, tvybiral@aol.com

Mask production in full swing. Hope we won’t need these, but after a week of printing and experimenting we think our small lab can make about 100 a week and are happy to show others how they can do this if they are in need.

More photos from the Shenkar Makeathon last week, including the evolution of TOM’s 100% 3D printed prosthesis. The prosthesis started in Israel with Noam Guez. ...Our community in Singapore then adapted it for Boon, a double amputee who needed assistance with toileting. Now at Shenkar, the prosthesis was customized again for Ester and Yael with more add-ons for home use, playing the violin, and drumming! By using community-driven innovation and local manufacturing, TOM’s 67 communities around the world aim to dramatically reduce the cost of assistive devices and make them available to any and everyone who needs. #tikkunolammakers #tomshenkar

Within minutes of having his new arm José was picking up a range of objects, including tiny screws, for the first time in his life with his left hand.

Jose was born with a defective arm due to the effects of a drug known as thalidomide, which was given to his mother during pregancy. His short limb was a real ...challenge for the team. We managed to design and print a custom made adaption for his prosthetic in less than 3 hours. Enable Medellín assisted José with his transport and accomodation. Thanks to the support of our donors and volunteers we can break down the barriers that often restrict people receiving a prosthetic device.

#WonderHand Update: Last week, I got to try out the first draft of my first hand, designed by Jacquin Buchanan. The last time I wore a prosthetic, it was about ...40 years ago. You can tell by my face that technology has changed A LOT. This arm didn't fit my nub correctly, so the next step is to get new digital scans of my nub, so Jacq can make draft #2 from those scans. #IssaProcess

Hi everyone. This post is about improving access to Occupational Therapy for children with upper limb differences. Dr. Fain is offering her services as a licens...ed Occupational Therapist with the goal of helping your children develop the strength and coordination needed to better achieve both play (like sports, playground activities) and functional tasks (such as the use of the a prosthetic hand). The meetings will be through "Telehealth" - meetings across electronic devices (phone, tablet or computer) - which means that we can meet with you no matter where you live. We will do our best to make these fun for the kids - exercise in disguise. Please reach out to me directly (JeffPowell101@gmail.com) if you are interested. More information below: --------------------------------- I'm working with Dr. Elizabeth Fain, hoping to provide some occupational therapy support for the children of ENABLE, so they may get more use out of their unique limb and prosthetic device. We would work through virtual sessions - in real time, but through electronic devices (likely using Google Hangout). This may help you to fit the meeting in your schedule, in the comfort of your home, and help us to reach people despite the physical distance that separates us. What we are proposing a minimum of 3 sessions: 1) a short session between you, the parent, Dr. Fain and myself. We will set expectations, learn what your goals are for your child, and get the information we need to best reach them. 2) a session with your child included. Dr. Fain will work with you to go over at-home exercises that will help your child reach his OT goals. We will give you an exercise schedule, go over tips and ways to track your child's activity. 3) an additional session with your child included, after some length of time (1-2 months), where we may asses how the exercises are going and make modifications to the plan if needed. There are a few additional possibilities: 1) We would love to have more meetings than we described - that will be up to you to decide - we just wanted to propose the minimum so you do not have to feel like you are making a huge commitment. 2) Our goal is to make a poster that features a fun picture of your child surrounded by visual representations of his exercises. This has been shown to work well with children as a daily reminder of their exercises, hidden within a fun poster. We would need you to provide the picture and we'd hope to get you the poster before the child's first meeting. 3) In the future, we may ask for an OT student observer to join. If you are not comfortable with the extra observer, that is ok and will not affect us meeting with you. Please let me know if you are interested or have any questions!
