Conservative journalist and author Helen Andrews has written a marvelous essay on the terrible racial wreck the United States has become. Called “The Racial Crossroads,” it brilliantly summarizes the racial absurdities and double standards the United States now takes for granted. Mrs. Andrews has done such a masterful job that I hesitate to criticize, but I believe both her analysis of how we got here and what we should do next are off target.

“The Racial Crossroads” has many facets and subtleties, and my summary of its main arguments only skims the surface. Mrs. Andrews writes that during the “civil rights” era, when the United States was a biracial, black-and-white country that was almost 90 percent white, we decided it was fair to give blacks the leg up that came to be known as affirmative action. Since the gain for a small minority was at the expense of a large majority, and since the advantages were to be temporary, Americans generally accepted this retreat from color-blindness.

Now, however, the number and kind of people who get a leg up has vastly increased. The benefits were originally supposed to compensate only the descendants of slaves; now they go to all non-whites, women, sexual minorities, and in some cases, people with handicaps, and the “neurodivergent” — all seen as victims of “straight white males.” Perhaps the most obviously undeserving beneficiaries are immigrants, who qualify for priority treatment on arrival if they are non-white, as most are.

Furthermore, the decline in the white (male) population means that instead of the cost of the benefits for 10 percent being borne by 90 percent, the ratio has shifted perilously. The white male percentage of the US population under 30 is about 26 percent; everyone else comes first. Mrs. Andrews notes that this means “white men in particular are effectively shut out of many prestigious fields and institutions, especially in the lower rungs.”

Mrs. Andrews makes a striking comparison between America’s obsession for racial balancing and the principles of Communism that were forced into every area of Soviet life. She does not mention this, but the culmination of this obsession was two Joe Biden Executive Orders — 13985 and 14035 in 2021 — that required every federal agency to file a detailed study with the Office of Management and Budget explaining how it would ensure that every aspect of its work would heretofore promote “equity” for all groups “systematically denied a full opportunity to participate in aspects of economic, social, and civic life.” Rather than list those groups, it’s easier to define the only people who hadn’t been “systematically denied:” heterosexual, able-bodied, native-born, English-speaking white men who have never gone to prison. They keep everyone else down, and every agency was to keep careful count of how many it was shouldering aside.

There would be stringent “accountability,” with “new reporting requirements,” “definitions of success,” “evidence-based and data-driven measurement of improvement,” “increased transparency,” “analysis of effectiveness,” and reports on “lessons learned.” All government contractors had to follow the same rules, and agencies were ordered to browbeat the private sector to adopt similar measures — and much of it did. And everyone — idiotically — had to claim this was “consistent and systematic treatment of all individuals in a fair, just, and impartial manner.”

The Equity Action Plans every agency filed make astonishing reading. Substitute “Marxist-Leninist Thought” for “equity” and you have Stalinism. The reports used to be available here, but no longer. [They can now be found here.] If the Trump administration scrubbed them, that was a mistake. They are impassioned, detailed, government-mandated expressions of the exact mentality Mrs. Andrews describes, and some day, they will have a place in the National Museum of Racial Insanity.

These EOs were only the most exquisitely cynical expressions of a well established mentality, and this broad campaign of what amounted to anti-straight-white-male discrimination had already given rise to casual contempt for whites. Mrs. Andrews cites New York Times’ darling Sarah Jeong’s famous comment that whites were “only fit to live underground like groveling goblins,” and mentions a book on concerns about euthanasia that argues, in effect that “since over 90 percent of people who seek assisted dying are white, we shouldn’t worry about it.” A black clerk for the St. Paul, Minnesota, school board argued that “white, Christian cemeteries” would make ideal dog parks, because animals could “piss on white corpses.” It is astonishing that whites, while still a national majority, require no consequences for this kind of talk, but punish each other for far milder comments about non-whites.

Before going into Mrs. Andrews’ solutions to the problem, here are some observations about her argument so far. First, Americans did not accept race preferences. They were sneaked in under names such as “affirmative action,” a term first used in a John Kennedy executive order that required employers to take “affirmative action” to ensure they did not discriminate.

As Mrs. Andrews explains, the theory was that there were high barriers preventing qualified blacks from getting what they deserved. By removing barriers and broadening searches, employers would find many fine blacks without lowering standards. This was nonsense because there were few qualified blacks and everyone wanted them.

The resulting favoritism was called “equal employment opportunity,” which meant unequal, preferential opportunity for non-whites. Weaselly language was necessary, because in the 1960s and early 1970s, it would have been hard to make Americans accept explicit lower standards and racial preferences. At most, they might have agreed that if there were perfectly matched blacks and whites, it might be OK to hire the black.

The courts had a hand in the subterfuge. In 1971, just seven years after the Civil Rights Act of 1964 banned segregation and discrimination, the US Supreme Court ruled in Griggs v. Duke Power that any employment standard that had a “disparate impact” on minorities — it weeded out more non-whites than whites — was discriminatory unless proven otherwise. The Court assumed that if whites were setting high standards, it wasn’t because they wanted to hire the best; it was a trick to keep out blacks.

In 1978, with the Bakke decision, the court muddied the waters further by ruling that race preferences were permissible, no longer as compensation for past injustice, but to increase diversity. There was no justification for this in anti-discrimination law, but “diversity” was the legal foundation for anti-white, anti-male discrimination for the next 45 years, until the court finally did away with most of it in 2023 with Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard.

There has never been a time when a majority of whites supported racial preferences for non-whites. I’ve always been struck by the small minorities of blacks who supported preferences for their own race: 27 percent in this 1977 poll, and similar figures right through the 1980s. Preferences were always an elite project, tirelessly promoted by liberals who didn’t suffer its consequences, and practiced by virtually all institutions. As Mrs. Andrews points out, when blatant double standards were revealed and could not be denied, some proponents argued that they were temporary and would disappear when blacks reached parity — though parity never comes.

But more crucially, Mrs. Andrews misses the key reason why preferences will not die — and why it is so common to hold white men in contempt. It is because of the rigid taboo on pointing out race differences in IQ and other traits. It is not pleasant to dwell on the one-standard-deviation gap between black and white average IQs (and the smaller white-Hispanic and white-Amerindian gaps). It is not pleasant to conclude that the evidence is overwhelming that genes contribute substantially to these gaps. However, in a multiracial society in which every difference in outcome goes under the microscope and is trumpeted as proof of white racism, whites should have publicized the race/IQ data out of pure self-defense. They haven’t. Just try it and you’ll see why.

Since it was forbidden to talk about the real reason blacks and Hispanics did poorly, the country had to invent new mysterious and malignant forms of “racism.” It used to be that racism was deliberate acts by bad people. Since only racism could be causing huge black/white disparities in crime rates, poverty, and incarceration, there had to be an awful lot of white racists. But who are those people? Where are they? What are they actually doing to grind down black people?

The number of whites who could plausibly be described as consciously oppressing blacks soon became vanishingly small. For decades, the favorite villains were the police, but serious criminology and now body cameras have mostly deflated those charges. David Duke might therefore be a certified “racist,” but how was he, personally, keeping black people poor and in jail, especially when he was hated and denounced by almost everyone?

The only answer could be that racism was not just deliberate acts by bad people, but was “institutional,” “systemic,” and “unconscious.” And there had to be an awful lot of that, too. Because every dollar difference in the median household net worths of blacks and whites ($45,000 v. $285,000) is a precise measure of white racism, past and present, whites are clearly a powerful force for evil.

Every disparity is proof, and if whites claim innocence or goodwill, it means only that they are “fragile” and “in denial.” From there, it’s a small step to assume that whites are inherent oppressors. It’s their nature to treat non-whites like animals, loot the Third World, and at the same time sincerely believe they are good, virtuous people. They cannot be salvaged, and they deserve every insult. It would be a public good to “abolish the white race,” as Noel Ignatiev of Harvard proposed, and non-whites should assume they are unsalvageable. As Chanequa Walker-Barnes wrote in a prayer published in 2021:

Dear God, Please help me to hate White people. Or at least to want to hate them. At least, I want to stop caring about them, individually and collectively. I want to stop caring about their misguided, racist souls, to stop believing that they can be better, that they can stop being racist.

Chanequa Walker-Barnes is professor of practical theology and pastoral counseling at Columbia Theological Seminary.

Ta-Nehisi Coates was showered with literary honors for a book, Between the World and Me, that contains this passage:

I would like to tell you that such a day approaches when the people who believe themselves to be white renounce this demon religion and begin to think of themselves as human. But I can see no real promise of such a day.

Professor Brittney Cooper of the Africana Studies Department of Rutgers said of whites as a group, “We got to take these motherfuckers out. But like, we can’t say that, right?” Wrong. She said it without consequences.

Black hatred for whites is inevitable. How could they not hate us if we are the source of everything that has ever gone wrong for them anywhere, anytime? When will whites ever explain that it is race differences, not white wickedness, that explain racial disparities? Many whites think blacks would riot and society would collapse if race differences were widely discussed. They are wrong, as I explain here.

At the same time, liberal whites take virtuous and vicious pleasure in denouncing fellow whites as bigots — Southerners, gun owners, Trump-voters, blue-collar workers — fancying that liberals will be exempted from the anti-white animus they are stirring up. When blacks and other non-whites attack us, they make no distinction between “racists” and “white allies.” If anything, they may be more contemptuous of self-professed “allies” whom they dismiss as self-deluded phonies.

So, where does this leave us? Mrs. Andrews says we are at a crossroads. If nothing changes, two things could happen. First, non-whites will become the voting, legislative, and judicial majorities, and entrench non-white privilege. As I wrote in 1996, it is not outlandish to imagine supplemental taxes on whites to strip them of undeserved wealth, exclusion from certain professions, laws to require non-white majorities on every corporate and non-profit board. Second, Mrs. Andrews writes that unbridled DEI could promote so many incompetents that society collapses. As I asked in 1994, “What will be the first American city where it’s unsafe to drink the water?” (The answer, as it turned out, was 57-percent-black Flint, Michigan, in 2014.)

Yes, you can call this a crossroads, but there have been countless crossroads, and we almost always took a wrong turn: bringing blacks to the colonies in 1619, giving up on remigration of blacks in the 19th century, destroying states’ rights, outlawing racial discrimination, opening up immigration to the whole world, the BLM madness of 2020, the Biden executive orders I mentioned earlier.

One of the few times we got it right was in 1790, when the first United States Congress restricted naturalization to “free white persons . . . of good character.” Electing Donald Trump was a step in the right direction, but every one of his accomplishments on race or immigration has been by executive order and the next Democratic president will undo them all, probably on day one. Moreover, all the good he has done will be associated with his, shall we say, unconventional behavior.

So, which way do we turn now? Mrs. Andrews says we must remove “every reference to race in our laws and regulations, apart from a bare-bones version of the 1964 law banning segregation.” This would mean repealing all “civil rights” laws to make racial (and presumably every other kind of) discrimination legal again. (I don’t know what Mrs. Andrews means by “segregation” or why it should remain banned, and she does not elaborate.) Her proposal would mean DEI was entirely optional and — most important — no one of any race could bring a discrimination suit, whatever the racial mix.

If that happened today, it would be harsh medicine. At least at first, virtually every university and large company would run amok with DEI. Mrs. Andrews recognizes this, but she predicts that sensible people would eventually start schools and businesses that pulled ahead quickly by bringing back merit. Maybe even an airline or car company would do that. If — and this is an enormous if — freedom to discriminate were combined with a public information campaign about race differences, we might eventually end up with something like meritocracy. We might get better immigrants: no more Africans or Hispanics; only whites and East Asians.

What we would not get is the America that only goofy white people pretend to believe in, in which citizens of every race and religion shed their particularist identities and link arms as Americans. Non-white solidarity is too strong, too powerful a battering ram against whites for them to give it up. Blacks and Hispanics would grow only more bitter — their racial identities sharper — if they had to compete on an equal footing with whites and Asians. Race would still be the most painful and persistent national fault line.

Mrs. Andrews may be proposing the impossible anyway. It is true that Trump-appointed Supreme Court justices banned most forms of racial preferences and his DOJ is trying to eliminate disparate impact. In both of his terms, however, Donald Trump could have asked Congresses with Republican majorities in both houses to repeal “civil rights” laws. Since he didn’t, who will? And if he had tried, what would have happened? Nothing. As I have noted elsewhere, in 2026, “the President, Vice President, and his cabinet are Republicans. So are 53 senators, 218 congressmen, 26 governors, and 4,070 state legislators. . . . Does even one call for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to be repealed or pronounce the words ‘freedom of association’?”

President Lyndon Johnson signing the Civil Rights Act. (Credit Image: © PHOTO12 via ZUMA Press)

It may be too late for racial sanity at the federal level. Despite his claims of a “landslide” victory, Mr. Trump got only 49.8 percent of the vote. During his four years in office, the white share of the vote will have declined, tilting the balance against Republicans. A Democrat president and all the vengeful horrors that entails are far more likely than Mrs. Andrews’ dream of a meritocratic America.

But I could be wrong about change at the national level; it’s impossible to predict what even just a few years could bring. If Elon Musk, trillionaire, decided to spend a few billion on white advocacy — which is making remarkable gains even without serious financial backing — it is possible to imagine Republican administrations that openly promote a return to a permanent white majority. They might not merely deport illegal aliens; they could offer incentives to non-whites to renounce citizenship and return to their racial homelands. A properly constituted Supreme Court could hold anti-discrimination laws unconstitutional and spare Congress the effort.

What if robots really do replace virtually all blue-collar work, as some now predict? Without the lure of cheap immigrant labor, would the US Chamber of Commerce really want large populations of Mexicans and Haitians just for the joy of diversity? There is no telling how great leaps in AI could change how Americans think about the economy and demography of their country. No matter what happens, whites who care about demographic security must never give up on politics. They should make every effort to turn the Republican Party at every level into one that protects their interests.

For now, though, I’ll stick with the country as it is. I wish Mrs. Andrews had further developed this key observation: “[D]emocracies that are polarized around race are fundamentally unstable. They don’t debate issues, they count heads, and they often degenerate into violence.” She could have substituted virtually any collective for “democracies:” nations, communities, institutions, groups, neighborhoods.

America’s fundamental problem has been the same from the start: multiracialism. The most salient racial divide has traditionally been black/white, and we stumbled from one clumsy, unjust arrangement to another trying to solve a problem that cannot be solved: slavery, emancipation, segregation, Jim Crow, integration, race preferences, DEI, and now a spasm of anti-anti-white reaction. And not content with one colossal race problem (two, if you include American Indians), we have imported countless more racial, religious, and ethnic problems from all around the world.

No matter what happens, no one will be happy in the seething broth of hostility we are brewing for the future, but whites will suffer most. We are the undisputed villains of the drama, and will remain so even after we are pushed aside. More than 30 years into black rule in South Africa, it’s still the “legacy of apartheid” that explains the ruin of what was once a successful country.

And so, I now propose what is perhaps my own pipe dream: disengagement. It may be difficult to achieve, but separation is the only future for whites that does not lead through dwindling numbers, persecution, and contempt to oblivion. Local ingatherings of racially conscious whites could eventually lead to local autonomy and perhaps even sovereignty.

I believe the United States as a whole will probably never again be the undisputed, permanent home for white people, where their children can grow up without being taught that they are dirt. That will be reserved, first, for racially conscious communities, then counties, perhaps whole states. Yes, the question of secession was answered in the 1860s, but only by violence, not by moral argument.

This will begin as a hard-fought struggle at the local level, and will require defiance of the central government. Curiously, the non-whites who profess to hate us and who should be delighted to see us go our own way will suddenly find reasons to want to keep us close.

The United States is not the only country where racial replacement means oblivion for the former majority. Every major European country has a vigorous youth movement dedicated to remigration, or returning non-whites to their home countries so Europe remains European. The dynamics of dispossession are everywhere the same. I believe that for historical and even moral reasons, American whites may be unable to reclaim their entire country, and will have to settle for balkanization, but whites and their civilization need lands of their own, where they are free to forge their own destiny, and free from the unwanted embrace of people who often hate them.

So, yes, we are at a crossroads. Mrs. Andrews reminds us of the last one in 2020 — the George-Floyd “racial reckoning” — during which, as mobs rioted month after month and it took curfews to calm 300 cities, America’s 50 biggest companies pledged $50 billion to racial “equity.” I consider 2020 the year the white man hit bottom. He has staggered back from the worst outright self-loathing, but is far from good health.

Mrs. Andrews is right to sound the alarm. Her reasons are carefully considered, and I cannot praise her highly enough. But the racial reckoning of 2026 must give up on the multiracial failure the United States has become and work towards disengagement. This will be our only salvation.

The new orders came weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court, in a 6-3 ruling, rejected the president’s previous efforts to end birthright citizenship for undocumented immigrants through executive orders.

{snip}

It was not immediately clear how the twin orders could realistically be enforced. They would restrict those who could qualify for birthright citizenship, to exclude children of staff working for foreign governments but serving in the United States, and the babies of mothers who lie about their intentions for visiting the country while pregnant. There is a third category, for babies born in U.S. territories, but that would first require congressional action.

And then there are children whose parents are tagged by the government as being part of known terrorist groups or who are “alien enemies.”

{snip}

Stephen Miller, Mr. Trump’s top domestic policy adviser and the architect of much of his immigration platform, and Will Scharf, the White House staff secretary, described the orders as important correctives to the current system.

{snip}

Mr. Scharf said among the actions being considered would be denying visas to visitors they suspect are coming to the country solely for delivering a child in the United States.

{snip}

A Department of Homeland Security official, who was granted anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak about the executive orders, threw cold water on the birth tourism order. There is nothing new in it from an enforcement perspective, the official said, because it simply restates existing law.

Mr. Miller said that Section 215A of the Immigration and Nationality Act gives the president the authority to engage in these new restrictions, when asked how the administration will determine the difference between “tourism” and “birth tourism.”

{snip}

Federal immigration law gives the government broad power over entry into the United States, but the law also forbids discrimination in the issuing of immigrant visas. Limits on the entry of certain pregnant women from other countries, as the president’s order envisions, could also give rise to claims of discrimination.

Homestead developments like this are not unusual in rural America, but what sets this one apart is who is allowed to live there.

Applications are open exclusively to white candidates who are of full European ancestry, reject homosexuality and embrace what founder Eric Orwoll describes as traditional European values.

Orwoll leads Return to the Land, a private white-separatist membership association with over one thousand members.

Only a handful of families, however, are selected to live in its 165-acre Arkansas settlement near the town of Ravenden, where idyllic social media videos show goats and chickens roaming the grounds, children playing, and members building wooden homes and churches.

But behind the tranquil homestead lies a community whose leaders promote hard-Right ideology online, while its children are homeschooled and taught that even historical atrocities such as the Holocaust and slavery have ‘two sides to the story’.

At a time when much of the Western world celebrates diversity and multiculturalism, Orwoll has emerged as one of the most outspoken advocates of racial separation.

Orwoll doesn’t believe his movement is racist. Speaking to the Daily Mail, he repeatedly insisted Return to the Land is about ‘preserving’ European identity, rather than promoting white supremacy.

‘I think what we actually advocate is tolerance, free association, and self-determination. I don’t think the movement itself is white supremacist. Are there people within the association who hold white supremacist views? Probably.

{snip}

While Orwoll’s community is happy to accept those with white supremacist views, they draw the line at those who he says hold ‘non-traditional’ religious outlooks.

‘We wouldn’t automatically reject someone for being Christian, pagan, or agnostic, but if someone holds what we’d consider a non-traditional religious outlook – for example, they’re a militant atheist who is intolerant of traditional religious beliefs – they’re probably not a good fit for the association.’

To join Return to the Land, applicants complete a questionnaire and then have a 15-minute phone interview.

During this call, candidates are asked about their views on various topics, including same-sex marriage, gender identity, vaccines and abortion.

‘The interview also focuses on values. It’s not solely about race. For example, we ask how often someone thinks about the Roman Empire because we see it as part of a shared European heritage and want people who value preserving it,’ Orwoll explains.

{snip}

He insists Return to the Land is a peaceful movement concerned with preserving European identity and says he has nothing against Black and Jewish people and would support them creating their own separate communities.

Yet posts and videos shared by senior figures in the organisation’s online channels perpetuate Holocaust denial, claims of ‘Jewish infiltration’ into society and rhetoric that downplays the harms of racial segregation.

Among the most prominent voices is Peter Csere, one of Return to the Land’s leading figures and a close associate of Orwoll.

In public Telegram channels, Csere has posted the number ‘1488’, a reference widely associated with white supremacist and neo-Nazi ideology.

The number combines the ’14 Words,’ a white supremacist slogan, with ’88,’ a code for ‘Heil Hitler,’ as H is the eighth letter of the alphabet.

Orwoll himself has also spoken of the prospect of a ‘second Hitler’ and has praised former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.

He is closely connected to a wider network of hard-Right influencers and extremists, including white nationalist commentator Nick Fuentes.

{snip}

Orwoll, who uses the name Aarvoll online and has amassed almost 100,000 followers across social media platforms, has repeatedly warned that America’s changing demographics pose an existential threat to white Americans.

Ironically, the 36-year-old’s upbringing in a diverse community near Los Angeles helped shape the beliefs he now champions.

He attended an arts high school and grew up surrounded by neighbours from different backgrounds, including many Jewish families, experiences he says pushed him toward his current worldview.

{snip}

When teaching about American slavery, he says he would explain its wrongs while also discussing the Barbary slave trade, where many white Europeans were enslaved by Muslims and sold into Africa and other regions.

{snip}

As for the Holocaust, Orwoll says the death toll numbers have been ‘exaggerated’, and children have been taught ‘a very one-sided narrative’ through ‘Hollywood propaganda,’ which he would work to change.

{snip}

Outsiders have been rattled by evidence of extremist influence. During a media visit last year, Hitler’s notorious manifesto Mein Kampf was spotted on Orwoll’s office bookshelf.

In advocating for ‘traditional European values’, Return to the Land also discourages interracial marriages.

{snip}

The movement also rejects what Orwoll describes as a ‘homosexual lifestyle’.

{snip}

Before embracing his current lifestyle, Orwoll appeared in live webcam sex shows for money, the Daily Mail revealed last year.

His former wife of 11 years, Caitlyn Smith, with whom he shares four children, was also his online porn partner. The couple divorced in October 2024.

On her Chaturbate profile under the username ‘Openmindedsexualencounters,’ her listed interests included ‘Men, Women, Trans, Couples.’

Despite that, Smith still lives in the Arkansas settlement, where the community attempts to shield children from exposure to LGBTQ lifestyles.

{snip}

The organisation is currently facing a legal battle after being sued by Michelle Walker, a woman of Jewish ancestry who alleges that Return to the Land discriminated against her based on race and religion by denying her the opportunity to purchase land in the community.

What began as a grassroots campaign to raise the colours of the nation has been declared a threat to community safety, with the full force of the courts now deployed against it.

Oxfordshire County Council, run by the Liberal Democrats, won its landmark case after months of legal action against the Raise the Colours campaign.

Justice Dexter Dias granted the order prohibiting unidentified persons from attaching England or Union flags to highway infrastructure or painting flag imagery on roads. Breach carries the risk of imprisonment, unlimited fines, or asset seizure.

{snip}

The council claims the flags created highway safety risks, trespass, and obstruction. It spent roughly £80,000 removing them and a further £40,000 on legal fees, costs it now intends to recover.

Staff tasked with taking the flags down reportedly faced hostility, to the point that some were instructed to wear face coverings and check their vehicles for tracking devices after one worker’s home address was published.

The judge noted that maintenance teams had been “working in fear” and that people directed by the council had been obstructed “to the extent that at times they have simply given up on the removal.” He concluded there was “little prospect absent an injunction that it will stop.”

The new order does not prevent flags on private property, and the council insists it flies both the Union Flag and St George’s Cross at County Hall.

This is the same Oxfordshire authority that earlier issued formal stop notices branding the widespread installation of national flags an “act of intimidation and division.”

{snip}

A leaked government social cohesion strategy went further still, describing how the “extreme right has tried to turn symbols of pride into tools of hate,” framing the Union Flag itself as a potential instrument of exclusion and intimidation.

Hong said her focus is on addressing violent crime while ensuring police departments have adequate resources. “I want to focus on stopping violent crime and giving law enforcement the resources and the training that they need. But ensure that we are also holding accountable law enforcement that does not follow the law,” she said.

“My proximity to whiteness continues, right… My son is biracial. He is half-white and half-Korean. I think navigating what his identity is and how people perceive him is always at the back of my mind as well,” Hong, who has served in the Wisconsin State Assembly since 2021, said during a 2021 interview with ListenMKE.

A trove of Hong’s past X posts and interview clips has resurfaced as she campaigns for Wisconsin governor, renewing scrutiny of her repeated comments about race and identity, including remarks critical of whiteness.

{snip}

The renewed attention comes as Hong embraces some of the left’s most prominent progressive figures, campaigning alongside Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar and socialist streamer Hasan Piker, tying her candidacy to a national progressive movement that Republicans argue has gone too far to the left.

The Sunday rally drew online backlash after attendees were required to show photo ID, prompting hypocrisy accusations over the left’s opposition to the SAVE Act’s voter ID and citizenship verification provisions.

{snip}

Critics have argued that Hong has a history of expressing anti-White sentiments, with former X posts resurfacing in recent weeks.

A Texas woman is behind bars and facing a steep prison term as her trial began over extreme child abuse she allegedly inflicted on a toddler she was babysitting when the little girl did not behave.

Katrina Lanett Evans, 34, stands accused of one count of injury to a child in the first degree and two counts of injury to a child in the third degree, according to the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office.

The underlying 2023 incidents concern a 2-year-old girl the defendant was babysitting as well as her own daughters, who were 3 years old and 5 years old at the time, authorities say.

Ultimately, the little girl suffered a broken jaw, broken bones in her wrist and hand, as well as bruises and scratches “from her head to her toes,” a nurse from Falls Community Hospital testified on Monday.

The emergency room nurse went on to describe additional injuries to the child, including white circular scars akin to cigarette burns and a “U-shaped” bruise seemingly caused by blows from a belt buckle.

A 21-year-old Pennsylvania man is facing attempted murder and firearm charges after allegedly opening fire inside a crowded Walmart self-checkout area in Glenolden on Friday night, hitting a store employee in the leg.

Armani Waite turned himself in to authorities on Monday following the incident at the store located about 18 miles south of Philadelphia. The Darby Township Police Department reported that the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m., a peak shopping hour, with roughly 30 people in the immediate vicinity.

According to Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse, the shooting stemmed from a verbal dispute between Waite and another shopper who was checking out items with a friend.

Rouse stated that the other shopper—a legal gun owner with a permit to carry—flashed a handgun in his waistband during the exchange but made no physical threats or aggressive movements toward Waite.

Rouse added that the targeted shopper was walking away when Waite pulled out a pistol and fired at least three rounds.

Many of these migrants have spent months living in the sprawling Loon-Plage camp, a vast settlement of tents straddling a main road between Calais and Dunkirk.

They are, according to Lee Anderson, the Reform UK chairman visiting the camp, sustained by charities not just with food but with the hope that they can leave the shores of France, a safe country, and make the perilous journey to England for a better life.

Around 2,500 people from a wide range of countries live in Loon-Plage. All are united by a single ambition: to cross the English Channel in small boats and begin a new life in the UK.

The camp is busy with daily activity. Along one side of the road, makeshift stalls sell cigarettes, offer mobile phone charging, and provide essentials such as juice, milk and fresh baguettes.

{snip}

Scattered throughout the camp are pits and trenches filled with rubbish. The smell of burning plastic hangs heavily in the air, after one of the residents started a fire just metres from a collection of tents.

Mr Anderson argues that Britain and France must do more to reduce the number of migrants risking their lives and fuelling a multi-billion-pound criminal trade by crossing the Channel in small boats.

He wants to challenge not only the men and women who want to take such risks to live in the UK, but also the charities who encourage them to do so.

Mr Anderson is clear who is to blame for what he called the “squalor” in the camp. He said charities and “Lefty-lawyers” were sustaining the trade in Channel crossings as they “encourage people to risk their lives”.

The European Commission has consistently refused to consider an increasingly urgent demand from Europeans: that their homelands be preserved through remigration. However, it seems the commission had forgotten about one last tool that patriots could use: The European Citizen’s Initiative (ECI).

The ECI allows European citizens to propose new EU legislation, as follows:

A group of at least seven EU citizens, from seven EU countries, can launch an initiative and formally register it with the European Commission.

Once registered, the initiative must collect one million signatures from EU citizens within 12 months.

One million signatures later, the ECI organisers are invited to meet the Commission and present their initiative at a public hearing in the European Parliament.

The Commission then has six months to issue a formal reply to announce whether it will, or will not, take action.

The ECI mechanism was established in 2012, and since then, 131 initiatives have been registered. Of these, only 14 have passed the one million signatures threshold.

The Save Europe Act initiative, founded by European patriots Eva Vlaardingerbroek and Martin Sellner, was launched at the Remigration Summit in Portugal on May 30, 2026, and has been through a vicious tug-of-war.

On one end of the rope, staunch supporters from across the continent are hauling on the rope with everything they’ve got, reaching half a million signatures in just five weeks. On the other end are European elites, who not only tried to ban the first-ever Save Europe Act event in Brussels, but have rejected its official registration.

Off to Brussels

While the team behind the initiative was waiting for the Commission to decide whether to approve the registration of the Save Europe Act, it launched a website to collect signatures — to show that once officially registered, it would reach one million signatures with ease.

Five weeks on, with half a million signatures, Mrs. Vlaardingerbroek and Mr. Sellner organized the first Save Europe event, to take the signatures to Brussels. As MEP from Poland Dominik Tarczyński explained, “These are not just signatures; these are 500,000 human lives demanding remigration.” The organizers strategically chose to host the event in the Place du Luxembourg, directly outside the European Parliament. On July 15, patriots would confront the very heart of the problem: European elites.

Dominik Tarczyński

Suddenly, just 24 hours before the event was to begin, the Mayor of Brussels announced he had banned the event. The Save Europe team replied that “The self-proclaimed defenders of democracy have just attacked the two freedoms they claim to protect most: freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.”

The team acted quickly to hire lawyers and challenge this ludicrous ban. The emergency challenge was a success, with a ruling that we could go ahead as planned. However, just one hour before the event was to begin at 2:45 p.m., the team received word that the mayor of Brussels was appealing the decision. If the judge ruled in his favor, anyone in the Place du Luxembourg gathering for the event could be arrested for taking part in an illegal gathering. Fortunately, at the last minute, the event got the green light.

Van Langenhove and Sellner scout the location ahead of time, and laugh at what the EU claims to be.

Send them back!

The organizers set up a stage in the Place du Luxembourg with a large backdrop saying, “Remigration Saves Europe.” Mrs. Vlaardingerbroek and Mr. Sellner opened the event with speeches underlining the importance of remigration for the future of Europe, explaining that the Save Europe Act is a democratic vehicle to “demand that the political elite halt replacement migration, secure our borders, and protect the ethnocultural identity of European nations.” Other prominent speakers included Dries Van Langenhove from Belgium, Dominik Tarczyński, Andrea Ballarati from Italy, Lucy White from England, Adam Šejna from Czech Republic. The crowd roared “Send them back! Send them back!” so loudly it could be heard inside the European Parliament.

After the speeches, the organizers planned to take a wheelbarrow loaded with the 500,000 signatures into the European Parliament. AfD MEP Tomasz Froelich had organized a plenary session in the European Parliament for 6:00 p.m. that day, and the team had official accreditation to enter — but was denied entry.

Sellner and Van Langenhove with the wheelbarrow.

Europe can secure borders

During the event, police had erected a barbed-wire fence to keep any patriots from entering the European Parliament. European elites proved that they can secure borders, but only for themselves. The Save Europe Act calls for secure borders for all our nations, but the only border the commission seems to want to secure is around its offices.

The police guards were extremely aggressive, even to MEPs with our group and their staff who worked in the European Parliament. Behind the police and barbed wire and in front of the parliament, a group of EuroMPs and staffers huddled to gawk and shout “racists.”

At first, police refused to let Mrs. Vlaardingerbroek and Mr. Van Langenhove deliver the signatures, but eventually, after much back and forth, they were let in. Everyone else was told to leave and come back for the plenary session, if they had accreditation. The session was hosted by Mr. Froelich of Poland, and Mrs. Vlaardingerbroek, Mr. Van Langenhove, and Mr. Ballarati gave speeches.

Left to right: Dara Vos, Save Europe Act, Netherlands; Lucy White, Save Europe Act, Great Britain; Eva Vlaardingerbroek, founder of Save Europe Act

The first Save Europe event was a huge success, and the organizers learned important lessons. The EU, which claims to believe in democracy, is willing to ignore over half a million voices, and it cares about secure borders only if they protect them directly.

Later, the team dropped a giant banner in front of the Europarliament.

The Commission rejects registration

One week after the event in Brussels, the European Commission formally refused to register the Save Europe Act. As it explained:

The proposed generalized moratorium would discriminate on the basis of race and ethnic origin . . . the initiative targets only people with a specifically ‘non-European’ or ‘non-Western’ origin . . . .

[T]he Treaty on European Union does not authorise measures that are incompatible with the Union’s foundational values or fundamental rights and thus the group of organisers cannot rely on national identity to justify a broad exclusion from immigration channels based on ethnic origin.”

To be European is to have European ancestry, which is a matter of race and ethnic origin. It is not possible for someone of “non-European” or “non-Western” origin to be European.

The Commission no doubt realized that the initiative would easily reach one million signatures, which would force it to respond. If the Commission refused to act, it would unmask its undemocratic nature. It is clear that European elites have no intention of stopping Third World mass migration into Europe; they encourage it.

Just the beginning

The initiative organizers are working with a legal team to fight the refusal to register the Save Europe Act. It now has over 650,000 signatures and will continue to grow. Non-EU citizens may sign in solidarity, but their signatures will not count towards the goal of one million.

Just last week, we saw yet more proof of the need for the Save Europe Act. Some 60,000 Moroccans invaded the Spanish North-African enclave of Ceuta, causing chaos and destruction. The Save Europe team assembled in Spain to rally against these illegal migrants and raise awareness of what is actually going on, since this nightmare received only limited media coverage.

Remigration activists in Ceuta.

With every day that passes, more and more people are waking up to the reality that Third World mass immigration is destroying Europe. The Save Europe Act offers a real, democratic solution. Remigration is inevitable.

Dr. El-Sayed’s win against a centrist congresswoman funded by pro-Israel groups and backed by the party establishment was especially sweet in Eastern Michigan, where Arab and Muslim Americans have long lived.

Dr. El-Sayed, a Michigan-born son of Egyptian immigrants, could become the nation’s first Muslim senator if he wins the general election in November against a former Republican House member, Mike Rogers.

“Growing up as a Muslim American, you’re often told to conceal that part of your identity if you want to get ahead,” Bilal Baydoun, 36, a writer and political strategist from Dearborn, Mich., said Tuesday night at Dr. El-Sayed’s election party in Detroit. “To see him bear his name with his full chest — even saying his full name at times — it still feels revolutionary in a way.”

{snip}

Nishi Rahman, 26, a health care consultant who lives in New York City, said he started following Dr. El-Sayed’s career during his 2018 run for governor of Michigan.

“I didn’t think there was a place for me in politics as a Muslim kid growing up,” said Mr. Rahman, recalling anti-Muslim sentiment in the United States after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

“What this shows is that we as Muslims have a place here,” he said. “We can be full citizens of this country. We can be leaders here. And we’re just as American as anybody else.”

The pilot bond program, which will go into effect Tuesday morning in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security, will initially apply to certain immigrants from the Dominican Republic and could expand to other nations in the future. A State Department official confirmed to the Free Beacon that American consular offices in the Caribbean nation will begin requiring certain immigrants “who have been found ineligible on public charge grounds to post a bond with [U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services] in order to be issued an immigrant visa.” The “public charge” designation applies to those immigrants who were initially denied a visa over concerns they cannot financially support themselves and would rely on taxpayer-funded benefits.

Generally, consular offices will have discretion to set bond amounts and will assess them on a case-by-case basis that considers “the applicant’s particular circumstances.” In some of the individual cases being processed this week, the bonds are being assessed in the range of $100,000 or $250,000, according to information provided by the State Department.

{snip}

The program is being implemented under existing legal authorities granted by the Immigration and Nationality Act, which allows certain visa applicants who would otherwise be ineligible to post a bond “as a way to tangibly demonstrate they have access to the funds needed to support themselves,” according to information provided by the State Department. The initiative comes as the Trump administration and its GOP allies attempt to stem the flow of taxpayer cash to new arrivals who entered the country with no financial resources and may seek to take advantage of government welfare programs.

{snip}

The State Department maintains that its bond program will offer a second chance to those immigrants who were already denied a visa due to their financial status. Those applicants “who have the resources to pay their own way” will now have “an additional option to demonstrate their self-sufficiency and qualify for a U.S. visa,” officials maintain.

The officer, Daniel Flores, was charged with 16 felony counts of eavesdropping on or recording confidential communications — crimes that carry a sentence of up to 13 years in prison, if convicted.

In a statement announcing the charges, L.A. Dist. Atty. Nathan Hochman said that while he found the recorded comments deplorable, Flores still violated the California Invasion of Privacy Act, which prohibits recording others without their consent.

{snip}

Flores turned over roughly 90 recordings to his superiors, according to an internal affairs complaint he filed with the department last year, which said he hoped the evidence would be used to discipline those responsible.

{snip}

In a retaliation lawsuit that Flores filed last month against the city, the officer claimed he overheard his supervisor, who was Asian, remark that an “Asian invasion” had begun, before starting to recruit officers of Asian descent to the unit. Other times, according to the lawsuit, the supervisors and unnamed colleagues made inappropriate comments about women, referring to them as “bitches” who couldn’t be trusted.

In another conversation described in the lawsuit, Flores said he heard his supervisor discuss the death of Dodgers legend Fernando Valenzuela from septic shock, allegedly telling subordinates that the Mexican pitcher “ate too many” tacos.

Flores alleged in the suit that the officers referred to other colleagues they believed to be queer with a slew of derogatory terms. They also referred to Black people as monkeys, the complaint said. “Black people like grape soda — they enjoy watermelon between basketball,” one was overheard saying, according to the lawsuit.

Jerry Falade, a graduate student at Southern Methodist University, posted a series of messages to Instagram after he was accused of using AI to write his first book, Call Me, I’ll Hide the Body, throwing the future of the lucrative deal into doubt.

According to the Wall Street Journal, a staggering 14 publishers competed for the US rights to the crime novel before Minotaur Books, an imprint of Macmillan, secured a two-book deal worth more than $2million.

HarperCollins later acquired the UK rights, in an impressive feat for a first-time novel writer.

But after the massive deals were made, Falade’s literary agent, Marc Gerald of Europa Content, informed the publishers that he could no longer support the book after concerns were raised about possible AI use.

Now, Falade has fought back against the accusations, saying: ‘Definitely innocent!!!’

In another post, he added: ‘They CAN’T and WON’T stop this Black boy’s light from shining!!’

The writer also denied that AI wrote his manuscript, saying he used the technology only to research details for the crime novel.

Falade told the Journal that he used an open-source AI model running on his own device to look up information such as chemicals that could dissolve a human body and American English terminology, but said the software was never used to write the book itself.

He said he chose to run the model locally because he was researching violent crimes and did not want those searches stored by online services.

The author also questioned how his unpublished manuscript ended up being examined by AI-detection software.

‘I never consented to anyone running my creative work through AI detection software,’ he wrote in one Instagram Story.

In another, he asked: ‘Who leaked my manuscript? Who ran it through AI-detection software? And who has the most to gain from everything that’s happening?’

Falade said he has retained legal counsel.

{snip}

Falade also argued that the accusations reflected a long history of Black writers having to defend their work.

He reposted information about 18th-century poet Phillis Wheatley, who was forced to prove she had written her own poetry, before drawing parallels with his own experience.

‘Eighteenth century: People of Color who wrote books were forced to sit before committees of white men and answer questions to prove they had written their own work,’ one post read.

‘Later, whenever a Person of Color wrote something good, we were accused of plagiarism.’

‘2026: If you’re a Person of Color and you secure a lucrative deal in history, someone, somewhere, will accuse you of using AI.’

A Lexington woman is facing a felony charge after authorities said she pointed an AR-15-style rifle at a KFC employee during a confrontation over a delayed drive-through order.

According to WKYT, 33-year-old Nayda Roman allegedly became frustrated while waiting for food at the KFC on Richmond Road in Lexington. The reported confrontation happened on May 11, although Roman was not taken into custody until late July.

An arrest report states that Roman exchanged words with members of the restaurant staff before leaving her position in the drive-through line. Instead of leaving the property entirely, police said she drove around the building and entered the restaurant’s parking lot.

Authorities allege Roman then parked her vehicle, opened the trunk, and removed an AR-15-style rifle. The arrest citation claims she pointed the firearm at an employee in a “threatening manner.” Roman allegedly returned to her vehicle and drove away shortly afterward.

Add the millions of immigrants waiting on decisions for asylum, work visas and permission to stay in the U.S. for humanitarian reasons, and the total backlog soars to more than 12.1 million.

Why it matters: The delays have put potentially millions of people in legal immigration limbo — vulnerable to being arrested by ICE agents and deported, even if they’ve followed the rules to try to stay in the U.S.

Officials say the delays are being driven by the administration’s new focus on stricter vetting. A wave of DOGE-induced retirements also reduced the workforce at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

{snip}

Zoom in: People with pending applications — including those who entered the U.S. legally — are being arrested while traveling domestically through airports such as those in Philadelphia and Denver.

Unauthorized immigrants who’ve married U.S. citizens and apply to adjust their immigration status are being arrested at their application interviews.

Even refugees, who are eligible to apply for permanent residency after one year of living in the U.S., are being targeted for ICE detention while their cases are processed — a reversal from previous practice.

What they’re saying: The delays ensure that “these individuals are vulnerable to detention and deportation for longer, giving [ICE] a larger pool of individuals to pull from to increase this administration’s deportation numbers,” Pierce said.

{snip}

Zoom out: There were about 2 million more people waiting on case decisions this June compared to June 2024, according to the agency’s monthly data report on six application types, including citizenship, permanent residency and work authorization.

The Florida Department of Education is writing new enrollment standards for postsecondary career and technical education, commonly called CTE. Under the draft, anyone applying to a CTE program run through a district technical college, a Florida College System institution, or a high school would first have to prove they are a U.S. citizen or are lawfully present in the country. The department’s language requires “clear and convincing” documentation that is also “credible, precise, and compelling” — phrasing lifted almost word-for-word from the rule it already applied to the state’s public colleges. A public workshop on the proposal is set for Aug. 18, held online, and the department has not proposed a date for the rule to take effect.

{snip}

{snip} According to the Higher Ed Immigration Portal’s current data, Florida has just over 60,000 undocumented students enrolled in higher education statewide.

{snip}

The CTE proposal follows almost line-for-line the rule the State Board of Education approved on June 30, which requires citizenship or lawful presence for admission to any of the state’s 28 public colleges, as well as the adult education classes that prepare students for the GED. The board passed it 6-1, with member Daniel Foganholi Sr. casting the lone dissent. Filed with the Department of State, that rule is on track to take effect around July 20. A parallel measure covering Florida’s 12 public universities — overseen separately by the Board of Governors — cleared an earlier procedural hurdle in June and is scheduled for a final vote at the board’s Sept. 2 meeting, with a target start date of the 2027-28 academic year.

{snip}

Florida’s posture toward undocumented students has flipped entirely in just over a decade. In 2014, then-Gov. Rick Scott signed legislation letting undocumented students who graduated from Florida high schools pay in-state tuition rates. That protection disappeared last year, when DeSantis signed an immigration package repealing the waiver — a change that, according to WUSF’s reporting, left some affected students paying nearly triple their previous tuition.

The warning from the U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Mexico about the state of Michoacan, which is located west of Mexico City, includes a halt to the inspections of avocados required for their export, according to The Associated Press.

“Due to a threat against American interests, U.S. government activities in Michoacan State have been suspended as of August 5,” the message read. “Reminder that the U.S. travel advisory designates Michoacan as a Level 4 ‘Do Not Travel’ area.”

While the U.S. Embassy did not specify the nature of the threat in its security alert, Michoacan Gov. Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla said on social media that a temporary halt to avocado inspections was intended to safeguard workers following recent arrests linked to alleged extortion, the AP reported.

The western state of Michoacan is the leading exporter of avocados to the U.S. and has a high level of organized crime activity with at least four cartels — designated as terrorist organizations by the Trump administration — operating in the region. Besides trafficking drugs, cartels also make money through extortion, including in the avocado industry.

In a statement on Wednesday evening, Prof Arday said he was stepping down “with immediate effect” from his position at the university and at Jesus College citing the “unrelenting level of public scrutiny”.

It came hours after the university announced it was investigating him following new information regarding his “academic qualifications and honorary appointments”.

Prof Arday, who was a professor of sociology of education, has been at the centre of a plagiarism row after The Telegraph reported accusations he had copied parts of his PhD thesis from another student.

Earlier on Wednesday, The Telegraph also revealed that Prof Arday had repeatedly claimed that he was the author of a book called Being Young, Black and Male: Challenging the Dominant Discourse.

The book was listed in his biography description in published essays as well as in promotional material for speaking events, and was attributed to the Palgrave Macmillan publishing house.

There is no evidence that any book was written or published.

The revelation raised questions over Prof Arday’s employment at the University of Cambridge. To apply for a professorship at Cambridge, applicants need to submit an extensive portfolio of work, which includes a complete bibliography of essays, journals and book chapters.

{snip}

The Telegraph revealed last month that Prof Arday had been accused of plagiarism after analysis of his PhD thesis showed more than 180 separate passages were identical or near-identical to another student’s thesis.

In recent days, Prof Arday has put his apparent plagiarism down to autism, saying he absorbs information through mimicry.

He has faced questions over other claims. Last week he admitted that a story about him running 600 miles in six days for charity was wrong, saying that it had taken 12 days. He also accepted that he did not raise £5.5m for charity alone – as he had said in the past – but had instead been part of a syndicate of about 100 people, none of whom he could name because of non-disclosure agreements.

The University of Glasgow, Ohio State University in the US and Nelson Mandela University in South Africa also denied claims by Prof Arday that he had been a visiting professor at their institutions.

Zack Polanski suggested on Thursday that the academic had been held to higher standards because he was black.

{snip}

The Telegraph can also reveal that he falsely claimed to hold a master’s degree in psychodynamic counselling from Birkbeck University. Durham University also contradicted his claim to be an “honorary professor” in its sociology department.

Cambridge previously said Prof Arday was the victim of a “vile campaign to undermine his credibility”, but faced a staff revolt over its refusal to re-examine his academic credentials.

Its investigation came hours after The Telegraph revealed Prof Arday’s false claim to have published a book.

In 2019, Prof Arday published Cool Britannia and Multi-Ethnic Britain: Uncorking the Champagne Supernova, which examined 1990s British culture through the lens of ethnic minority experiences.

In the first few pages of the book, a section called “about the author” states that Prof Arday is “the author of the following titles”, before listing Being Young, Black and Male: Challenging the Dominant Discourse (Palgrave).

The same claim was made in promotional material for his appearance at a speaking event at Queen’s University Belfast at the end of 2019, as well as in an essay he wrote about racism in higher education, which was published in June 2020.

Palgrave Macmillan, an academic and trade publishing company, accepted Prof Arday’s proposal for the book but did not publish it. Despite the book not being publicly available, he continued to promote himself as its author.

The revelation comes as Arday’s scholarly work and inspiring life story are under heavy scrutiny in Britain from journalists and at least one other academic, who have presented evidence of sweeping plagiarism and rampant fabulism by the youngest black professor in Cambridge’s 800-year history. But Cambridge and Simon & Schuster are standing by Arday, with the university declining to investigate the plagiarism accusations. And the publisher, the Free Beacon has found, stealth-edited Arday’s online biography to remove false claims and reel in his embellishments and, most notably, toned down claims about his charitable fundraising in the final edits of his book.

{snip}

Dating back at least to his mid-20s, Arday, now 41, has repeatedly claimed to have set—and then shattered—wildly ambitious goals for charitable fundraising, often, in his telling, from receiving sponsorships for charity running events. His total haul reached £5.5 million, or $7.4 million, by his most recent accounts. These fundraising feats were a major reason he received at least one of his honorary doctorates and, by his account, became a torchbearer for the 2012 London Olympics. The fundraising was also central to much of the glowing press he has received, as well as to his paid speaking engagements.

{snip}

But with his life story and scholarly work now called into question, Arday is suddenly pouring cold water on his own myth. In an interview with the Times of London published Friday, the paper wrote that he “conceded” the truth that “he did not raise all the money for charity but was part of a syndicate of about 100 people, but when he spoke at events or to the press the coverage focused on him.”

{snip}

Of all the examples of his fabulism, Arday’s tall tales about fundraising stand out. The Free Beacon has scoured the detailed available record, dating back to 2010, of claims about Arday’s fundraising—either assertions he made directly, or glowing reports made by credulous journalists, companies, and universities that helped burnish the hagiography. What is abundantly clear is that Arday’s claims about his charitable prowess have routinely been false. And even after he became an increasingly public figure over the past five years, he continued to paint himself as a superlative fundraiser (and extraordinary athlete) and, per what he told the Times, did not object as numerous institutions built him up.

In 2010, when he was 24, Arday, according to a blog post, claimed to have previously established a goal when he was entering young adulthood of raising £100,000 for charity by age 25; the next goal was £250,000 by age 50. A decade later, he had inflated these goals to claim that he had sought to raise £1 million by age 40.

The claims of his actual fundraising tally escalated from “more than £100,000,” according to a 2010 article about his purported feats as a long-distance runner, to £4.5 million for 80-plus charities per his TEDx bio in April 2021, to just over £5 million according to a 2021 talk he gave, to £5.5 million according to a 2024 speech.

The available records provide few specifics about which charities Arday reportedly helped fund, save the homelessness nonprofit Shelter and Shooting Star Children’s Hospice. A representative for Shooting Star told the Free Beacon that Arday had raised just £10,800 over time. A representative for Shelter said it was barred by law from sharing such information.

{snip}

After the mid-2025 turning point, multiple institutions that maintained an affiliation with Arday started to quietly retract and hedge. Many made stealth edits to their online bios about him, toning down or eliminating claims of his fundraising achievements or the assertion that he had committed awesome athletic feats. This included changing assertions that Arday fundraised solo to indicate that he did so as part of broader teams or collectives. These edits, none of which were acknowledged on the web pages, were made as long as a year before Arday admitted to the Times that he hadn’t raised all that money on his own.

{snip}

Arday’s Amfo Talent bio received stealth edits sometime after June 18, 2025. Amfo stopped saying he’d raised £5 million and switched to saying he was a member of teams that had “raised millions.” Amfo later boiled the claims down to Arday having “contributed to a range of charitable initiatives and community projects.” Amfo also removed references to Arday having won “numerous prodigious fundraising awards” and cut boasts about how many miles he had run. The new bio simply stated: “In addition to his academic and public work, Jason has contributed to a range of charitable initiatives and community projects.”

{snip}

Arday in the mid-2010s submitted for a university job application a CV that the Free Beacon obtained in which he claimed to have raised just over £1.5 million for charity, including by cycling from London to Paris in 2009, completing the 2010 marathon challenge, running 300 miles in three days in 2011, and running from Edinburgh to London in six days in 2013.

{snip}

A TEDx bio page on Arday, first archived in April 2021, said he had raised “over £4.5 million pounds for 80+ national charities.” In a 10-minute video address he gave for TEDx at Durham University that was uploaded the following September, he said, “My lifelong ambition was to raise £1 million for charity before I turned 40. And at 36, I’ve raised just over £5 million.” In this version of his origin story, he was 18 rather than 17 when he visited the homeless shelter. His memoir also says he was 18.
