ChatGPT Pro plan losing money: Sam Altman revealed that the $200/month ChatGPT Pro plan is costing more than it earns, thanks to heavy user demand. “I personally chose the price,” Altman shared on X, noting the lack of a rigorous pricing study—a theme for OpenAI, which also set the $20 premium plan price based on user sentiment. With $5 billion in losses projected last year, OpenAI is eyeing changes, including usage-based pricing, to attract fresh investments during a corporate restructuring. Despite challenges, the company remains optimistic, forecasting $11.6 billion in revenue for 2025 and aiming for $100 billion by 2029.
